COVID-19 Business Operations and Capacity

Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been reported in South Carolina and several other states. As agencies continue to monitor all developments related to the disease, the DDRA aims to provide you with the information necessary to continue business.

Below is list of what businesses are operating and at what capacity. Please send information to info@buildupdarlington.org or text 843-992-1561 to be added to this list.

  • All in-person court proceedings statewide beginning on or after January 11 are hereby suspended until further Order of the Chief Justice, subject to limited exceptions. Read the full notice here.
  • Darlington County Courthouse will be restricted to appointment only to maintain social distancing requirements. Call 843-398-4100
  • City of Darlington Offices will be restricted to appointment only to maintain social distancing requirements. Call 843-398-4000
  • Palmetto Disaster Recovery Offices are opened in Marion and Conway with limitations. To apply, applicants must contact one of these two offices to schedule an appointment. For residents of Darlington County, applicants would need to contact the Marion Office at 803-609-1164 or 843-731-3550.

  • If you know someone facing eviction and they need assistance, South Carolina Legal Services (SCLS) may be able to help. The CDC has halted evictions due to CVOID-19 concerns through Jan. 31, 2021. Call toll-free 888-346-5592 or by apply online at here.

Per the Order of Governor Henry McMaster, restaurants and bars had to suspend dine-in options and may now allow dine-in according to strict social distancing guidelines. Take-out and delivery are still available. The sale of sealed beer and wine is also available.

Additional closures and rules as required by the Governor. The mandatory order requires South Carolina residents to further limit their movement, limiting movement to home, work, and outings for essential items only. The order also stops short-term rental operators from booking reservations with few exceptions.

All Non-Essential Businesses ordered to close during this State of Emergency UPDATE: Salons, gyms, and other close contact businesses will be able to open - limited by new sanitation guidelines - as of Monday, May 18, 2020.

The March 26th Update from the Governor's Office on the COVID-19 Response

FOR BUSINESSES: S.C. Commerce continues to update the COVID-19 Business Resources Center with the most timely and critical information for the business community. This online tool contains pertinent information including tax support, financial assistance resources, the Clarification of Designation Business Form, employment benefits and much more.

The Census Bureau has launched a new tool - the COVID-19 Data Hub - designed to help guide the nation as it begins recovery efforts from the sweeping COVID-19 pandemic by providing economic and demographic data.

The Darlington County School District will be closed starting April 10-19 for spring break. Classes will resume on April 20. The district will only do one meal delivery during spring break, which will be Monday, April 13. The meal delivery will be for the entire week.

SCDMV will reopen all branches on Monday, May 4. Customers must make an appointment to visit the SCDMV, and appointments can be made at SCDMVonline.com (click 'Schedule an Appointment' in the upper right hand corner) or by calling 803-896-5000.

Dollar General Stores will dedicate the first hour of every shopping day to senior shoppers beginning March 17. The company is asking non-senior customers to avoid shopping at Dollar General stores in the first hour after stores open so that seniors, who are more at risk from the COVID-19 coronavirus, can avoid shopping while stores are busy.

Dollar Tree will close at 8 p.m. nightly.
