Darlington County Council will hold a Redistricting Public Hearing on Monday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. at Hartsville Middle School Auditorium, 1427 14th St., Hartsville. Darlington County Council Redistricting Public Hearing Is Open To The Public - This Public Hearing is being held to discuss and receive public input on redistricting/redrawing County Council election district lines to accommodate population changes over the previous decade. This Public Hearing will be "in-person." It will not be live-streamed.

This Public Hearing is being held at Hartsville Middle School Auditorium instead of Darlington DCIT, as initially discussed, to provide sufficient space for public access. Hartsville Middle School is located at 1427 14th Street in Hartsville near the intersection of W. Bobo Newsom Highway and 14th Street. To access the facility, from W. Bobo Newsom Highway, turn onto 14th Street, then turn into the first driveway and enter the first parking area (Staff Parking) on the right. Enter the Auditorium using the double doors at the end of the building. Masks are optional.

Start Thanksgiving off right by building an appetite running the 30th Annual Hartsville Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning at 9 a.m. Nov. 25. This event is one of the largest Road Races in the area, drawing over 600 runners to this race every year. The race starts in front of the YMCA, 111 E. Anonymous Ancestors, an installation by Susan Lenz, will be on display from Jan. 6 to Feb. 25 at Black Creek Arts Center, 116 W. College Ave., Hartsville. Each snapshot is a frozen moment on life's timeline. Letters and words clipped from vintage print material allow one's mind to wander, envisioning forgotten friends, past holidays, ancient occasions, former cars, and hilarious fashion trends. Yet, all the images are anonymous. The photos come from yard sales, auctions, and abandoned locations. Who are these people? Who really knows? They are distant aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, siblings, and in-laws. They are society's family tree, our collective wall of ancestors.
