The Swamp Log Artisans Story from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, at The Riparian on Black Creek, 847 New Market Road, Hartsville. Alec Blalock, underwater logger, will be presenting a program on logging during the great lumber boom from 1860-1925 and the importance that logging played in building America and the effect that it had on our society in both positive and negative ways. There will be vintage photographs and video that we hope you will find very interesting and entertaining. Alec will also share his story of creating THE SWAMP LOG Artisans Center, South Carolina's only sinker lumber store that features the work of 55 South Carolina artisans who create unique, beautiful items from the wood cut from logs that Mr. Blalock's crew recover from the swamps and river bottoms of South Carolina.
