Weekly Update City of Darlington

  • Get in the Holiday Spirit with the Darlington Fire Department’s and Police Department’s Taste of Christmas from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at First Baptist Church on South Main Street. Admission is $10 for a host of food from more than 27 local cooks. Funds go toward Christmas presents for those in need. Children younger than 6 eat free. Bounce house for the kids too!
  • The annual DDRA Business Costume Contest will be held during the Scare on the Square as well as on Wednesday, October 31. Businesses should call or text 843-992-1561 to be included in the contest.
  • Election Day will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. Info: scvotes.org

Monday

Teen Programs are held at 5 p.m. Mondays at the Darlington Library. 843-398-4940

The City Tree Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at City Hall.

 

Tuesday

Free Exercise Classes will be held at 9 a.m. most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the Harmon Baldwin Recreation Center, 300 Sanders St., Darlington. Info: 843-398-4030

After School Club will be held at the Darlington Library at 4 p.m. each Tuesday during the school year. 843-398-4940

Swing and Shag dance lessons from 8 to 10 p.m. at Darlington Elks Lodge, 836 Timmonsville Highway, Darlington. 843-393-145

In addition to our weekly Tuesday Trivia and Rock-on-Bingo, we will be having a costume contest, party favors, and prize drawings at Fahrenheit 225, 26 Public Square, Darlington.

Wednesday

The DDRA will hold its final membership meeting of 2018 at 8 a.m. at Taki’s Diner on Pearl Street. Breakfast will be provided for member businesses at no charge. Nonmembers who would like to attend the meeting are welcome for a nominal donation of $5 per person. Please bring any ideas or feedback on our activities and programs.

The Darlington County Historical Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month at 204 Hewitt St., Darlington.

Indian Branch Church will hold its annual Chicken Bog fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2. Eat-in or take-out available.

Saturday

Paws to Read is a literacy program where emerging and reluctant readers can create positive emotional connections with reading. Therapy Dogs International provides one-on-one reading sessions at 12:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month and at 3 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Darlington Library, 204 N. Main St.

Sunday

Shannon's Salon & Gifts will hold a Holiday Open House from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the salon on Pearl Street. Photos with Santa, specials, and more

Open House: Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School will hold an Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the school, 5001 Hoffmeyer Road.
