Downtown concert one part of upcoming Race Week

Thanks to the generous contributions of the City of Darlington, the Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association will be able to hold a free Concert Series in 2021. This month's concert features Level 10 Band & Show from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, on the Public Square. You can check out classic cars on display from the Darlington Cruisers and Eastern SC Mustang Club at the mural parking lot or play in the Cornhole Tournament. We will have Sweet Chillin' Shaved Ice, Dave's Barnyard BBQ, George's Funnel Cakes, Cajun specialties from University of BBQ, BJ's Krusty Krab Food Truck, and, thanks to Pepsi of Florence, free Pepsi and water.

PDRTA and the City of Darlington will provide a FREE shuttle from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, between the racetrack area to the Public Square. Yard signs will indicate the stops.

  • Stop 1 - Old Bi-Lo Plaza (DART bus stop)
  • Stop 2 - Weekend Pit Stop / Young's Campground
  • Stop 3 - Tunnel Road at Indian Branch
  • Stop 4 - Sunset at Tunnel Road
  • Stop 5 - Parking lot of Gas-N-Go / Bargain Bens
  • Stop 6 - Blackwell Circle (at Track's Credentials Office)
  • Stop 7 - Raceway Grill on Right
  • Stop 8 - Public Square at the Mural Parking Lot

    Darlington Raceway will host the third annual Terrence Carraway Memorial 5K presented by Brown's RV Superstore at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. There will also be a one-mile Kids Run as part of the event. Runners can register online at darlingtonraceway.com/memorial5k.

    The Southeastern Bluegrass Association of South Carolina presents a great youth band Mountain Highway from Virginia at its monthly concert and jam session on Sept. 4 at the Grand Old Post Office, 201 Pearl St., Darlington. Featured bands in concert from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. for jamming and open mic at 5 o'clock.
